Dancing Requirements

  • All students will be adjudicated in a group dance setting. The dance is primarily being used to determine who will be our featured dancers this year. However, we are expecting all of you to do your best as there will be more opportunities provided to those who are able to dance in some of the larger group numbers.

  • Tutorial Videos are posted HERE

  • Tzipporah auditioners will also be required to dance and sing at the same time. An example of what we are looking for is posted on HERE

FINAL ADVICE

Finally, I just want to give some advice to everyone. All of these parts are phenomenal in their own way. I would start by finding the part that fits your voice the best first. Do not try to sing something that will not be comfortable to sing. Once you have found that part, see what other parts also fit your voice and learn those as well.

The most important thing to all of us is that you come to the audition rehearsal and audition prepared. Memorize the dance and memorize all of the material. If you want to be a lead role, one of the biggest aspects is memorization (and a lot), so this might seem like a lot, but the leads of this show will have significantly more.

If you are someone who wants to be a featured dance, make sure to practice the rest of the summer and be ready to dance. If you are someone who wants an ensemble part, pick something you like to sing and sound good singing. Get really good at one of the vocal parts!

HAVE FUN! TAKE A DEEP BREATH! REMEMBER WE ARE ALL ROOTING FOR YOU IN AUDITIONS. DO NOT FEEL ANY STRESS! WE WANT THIS TO BE A CREATIVE EXPERIENCE THAT YOU ENJOY AND WE ARE ALL HERE TO HELP ALL THE WAY UP TO THE AUDITION.

Sincerely,

James Benedek
